Tattoo allergy?
I had my first tattoo done last sunday, the tattoo artist suggested I put prep H on and I did so for the first week everything was going perfectly fine. After reading and being told some negative comments about prep H I switched to Zam buk, on friday. On saturday morning I also put micropore tape and gauze on with the zambuk. On Sunday morning the tattoo was so itchy and I discovered a rash had formed( No idea what from-if I was allergic to the zam buk wouldn’t the rash have appeared earlier?) Spoken to the artist and he suggests I clean it morning and evening but put nothing else on. Worried its going to dry out. should I still put an aqueous cream on?
DO NOT PUT PREPERATION H ON A TATTOO!! At this stage, switch to pink baby lotion, just the generic kind you can find at any drug store is fine. Apply it every 6 or so hours, DO NOT cover the tattoo, and wash it twice a day. Don’t scratch it or pick the scabs, and make sure you keep applying the lotion if it is dried out or extra itchy. You cannot over moisturize a fresh tattoo….I usually use lotion on them for at least the first 2 weeks. Just FYI, A&D ointment is what I use for my tattoos during the first 3 days. It keeps them moist and makes them heal wonderfully. Good luck!!
