how would i know if i am allergic to titanium?
I want my tongue done and I heard that for better healing you need to have titanium, I had stainless steel and i’m definitely allergic to that so I was wondering is there anyway to know if I’m allergic to other metals?

Although metal allergies can be produced by different types of metal, in most people this allergy is to a metal called nickel. Metal allergy is more common in women, with an estimated 12 percent of women being allergic to nickel, compared with only 6 percent of men. Your question mentions that you are allergic to stainless steel. It may be of interest to know that surgical grade stainless steel is made to be in the human body. However, the steel alloy contains between eight and twelve percent nickel. I have heard varying reports as to how safe this metal is for people with nickel allergies. Since the steel alloy does contain nickel, which I assume is your allergy, you will no doubt avoid it, but some people swear by it. It would be unusual to have a Titanium Allergy because titanium allergy is barely recognized in mainstream medicine – yet laboratories using the MELISA technology have reported that about 4% of all patients tested to titanium will be allergic to it. Titanium jewellery is both hypoallergenic and durable. It is a highly recommended metal for those who suffer from nickel allergies. For those affected with titanium allergy, the symptoms can be multiple and bewildering. These can range from simple skin rashes to muscle pain and fatigue. From foodstuff to medicine, titanium is now an everyday metal. Several brands of candy, such as Skittles and M&M, have titanium dioxide in the coating – often described by its E-number: E171. Some brands of toothpaste contain titanium particles. Hospitals use titanium implants to rebuild bones after accidents. So, if you eat Skittles and /or M&Ms, and use a toothpaste with titanium as a constituent and do not get any reaction, you MAY be safe! However, to be sure, you should request an allergy test.
