From The Hug Hold To The Hike Hold, Do Everything With Baby In Moby Wraps
There’s a reason why moby wraps are so popular. Not only are they affordable, but you can do everything with your baby in a moby baby wrap. From the important aspect of attachment parenting, to just being able to do everyday chores and errands with the safety and security of knowing baby is with you. Try these holds and discover just how versatile baby wraps can be.
Babies can face forward in moby baby wraps at around four months old as their head control develops, which is typically mastered at about six months. Then you can try the Hug Hold, where you’re holding baby who’s facing you on the front. While wearing the moby wrap tied with the basic instructions, place baby inside the fabric that crosses your shoulders one leg at a time. Put baby’s legs through the front waist fabric of the logo tab and pull up the fabric to secure baby. For added support, tuck baby’s head under one of the shoulder sections and drape the fabric over your shoulders. You both are now comfortably secure. Try the Lotus Hold while wearing the Moby D baby wrap according to the Moby D instructions. Hold baby tightly at your front with baby facing away from you. Place one of baby’s legs through the shoulder piece closest to you. Now place baby’s other leg through the other shoulder piece. Spread the shoulder fabric closest to you over baby’s groin and abdomen, and spread the other shoulder fabric over baby’s torso. Locate the center fabric panel and pull it up and over baby’s legs, creating a pouch. Or, you can move baby’s legs through the fabric panel, whichever you and baby prefer.
To accomplish the Hike Hold with the Moby D, you’ll need someone helping you (which is just as well because you shouldn’t hike alone!). With your partner’s assistance, bend over slightly and lift baby onto your back. Place the untied center fabric panel of the baby wrap over the bottom half of baby. Take either end of the baby wrap and move it over your arm, across baby and to your opposite shoulder. Keeping the fabric pulled tightly as you wrap, spread the fabric over baby’s back, and tuck the fabric under baby’s leg and to your front. Cross the other end of the fabric over your opposite shoulder and across baby’s back so that both fabric pieces are crossed on your chest. Bring the second piece of fabric under baby’s legs and to your front while holding tightly to both ends of fabric. You can either tie a knot in the front, or cross the fabric pieces and knot the fabric at your back. Now that you’re all ready to hike, be sure you bring lots of food and water!
