In your view is there an absolute standard for what is pure truth and can mankind learn it?
I see man has accepted truths, relative truth, temporary truths, lies that become truths. etc. So many definitions for truth but seldom is it heard that there is an absolute truth that is accepted by very many.
There are both mathematical truths and subjective truths.
For example, as one answer suggested, 1+1=2 is an absolute (objective) truth. No matter where in the universe you travel, 1+1 will always equal 2. It doesn’t matter what your point of view on the issue is: 1+1 = 2.
Using the same answer, however, we see a very subjective truth: “It’s cold in Maine in winter”. Inuits who winter on the ice pack would surely disagree with such an assertion. Likewise, “it’s warn in Texas in winter” would certainly be disputed not only by those living in the tropics, but also by those Texans who live in the Texas panhandle (an area frequented by snow storms). Thus, such truths are *subjective*. The people who speak them are telling the truth – but someone else perceives “warm” and “cold” differently, and so a different statement will be true for *them*.
So, there is *subjective* truth (statements whose truth is *dependent* on the perceptions of the speaker) and *objective* truth (statements whose truth is entirely independent of any individual).
For example, “the planet earth is spheroid in shape” is an absolute truth. IF someone believes the planet earth is flat, that is not true no matter how firmly they believe it, nor how completely flat the planet looks from their vantage point. The absolute (objective) truth is immune to individual perception.
