. 1.A physician ordered motrin 10mg/kg every four hours prn for fever or pain. The woman is 110lb elderly female that cannot swallow pills. The oral suspension comes 100mg/5ml. The patient will recieve how many mls?
2.The order reads: Gentamicin 5mg/kg/day iv once every 24hrs. Gentamicin 10mg.per ml is available. How many ml will you mix in a 100 ml bag of 0.9 Normal saline to run over 1 hour? patient is 90kg
3.The doctor orders 4 mg/kg/day IV gentamicin. The patient weighs 220lbs. Gentamicin comes in 40mg/ml vials. How many ml. will be mixed in the piggyback the patient recieves?
If you use the non-precise 1 kg ≈ 2.2 pounds , then
(1) your patient is a 50 kg patient and needs 500 mg
(2) patient needs 450mg per 24 hours, so either you put 45 ml in the bag of 9% saline solution and administer only one bag…or if continuously then put [45/24]ml in each bag
(3) patient is 100 kg patient and needs 400 mg—> 10 vials
