How can you sew a shirt at least one size smaller?
I bought this one shirt that I really liked, but the only size left was a large; I’m a medium. Now i do know how to sew, i’m not excellent but I do know the basics. I don’t want to shrink the shirt because i’m pretty sure it would ruin the shirt’s design. How can i sew it to make it one size smaller? It would be preferable if you could answer the question in steps, please. Thankies!
That’s super easy! I do it all the time.
Turn the shirt inside out and make sure that it’s all nice and flat and even. Take a shirt that fits you well and place it on top of your large shirt so that the necklines are lined up. Pin around the outline of the smaller shirt and sew that outline. Turn it right-side-in and TRY IT ON BEFORE YOU CUT THE EXCESS OFF. If it fits well, trim the excess. If it’s too big, take it in a bit more. If it’s too small you have to unsew it and resew it.
I usually use large stitches the 1st time I resize something. If it turns out the right size I sew over it with small stitches. I do the big stitches 1st because they’re a LOT easier to take out if you make a mistake.
