later today i will buy them, but some sources say that the strong magnetic fields of the magnet can damage floppy disks, credit cards, magnetic I.D. cards, cassette tapes, video tapes or other such devices. They can also damage televisions, VCRs, computer monitors and other CRT displays. Never place neodymium magnets near electronic appliances.
from someone who has actually worked with these kinds of magnets, can you tell me what i am supposed to do? i have ipod, phone, computer, printer, tv, vcr, lamp, alarm clock, etc in my room. There’s electronics in every part of our house, but i need these magnets for a science project. Should i keep them outside or something?
i understand that these magnets are really strong, but is there like a certain distance i can put them, like 10 ft away from my computer and it won’t damage it? or keep it away completely?

To have rare earth magnets in your house will not cause any problems. Don’t do something like placing your wallet on one of them, place them on your TV, etc…
Just keep them a safe distance (say about 5 feet) from any electronics. They will not damage anything just by being in the house.
