Diaper rash that looks like a sunburn?
My daughter has two different diaper rashes going on. First, we know she has thrush/yeast. She has splotches about the size of a nickel that are whitish with defined red edges. But she also had a red area just below the waist and at her waist that was really red. We attibuted that to chemicals in disposable diapers and switched to cloth.
Okay, I was told to put her bare bottom in the sun, which I’ve done, through the window, for 15 minutes two days in a row. The reddness is more widespread. Could I have sunburned her poor little bottom? Arrrgh!!!
I’m using the doctor prescribed yeast cream on her, but not any other diaper creams. The makers of the cloth diaper said we’re not supposed to, that the diaper is made to wick away moisture and be its own barrier.
Help? Poor baby.
When my oldest was in diapers we had a terrible diaper rash that I could not get rid off. It also turned out to be a yeast infection after I finally switched doctors to get to the bottom of it. Just keep using the cream the dr. prescribed. My doctor had prescribed a mixture of nystatin and hydrocortizone. The hydrocortizone really helped with the redness and made the cream easier to spread. I wish you the best of luck even though this daughter is now 13 i still specifically remember the rash and the pain she went through. Crying everytime she urinated. I would just hold her without a diaper with a towel. It was the most helpless feeling I’ve ever had still to this day. Just a note as well.. I went through this everytime she was put on antibiotics for something. It never failed until someone told to me to buy acidophiles and give it to her while being treated with antibiotics. You can get it at any herbal store (atleast in children friendly flavors) or maybe walmart or somewhere like that although i never found it in the kid friendly flavors there.
