The Benefits of Aromatherapy Oils, Essential Oils and Hydrosols

Aromatherapy oils are used by  a lot of of people to treat many different illnesses. They can be very effective in improving one’s mood and also treating common skin disorders likeacne, eczema, psoriasis or dry skin. Aromatherapy oils are created from essential oils which are taken from flowers, plants and herbs. Besides improving one’s health they also have many beautification uses. Candles, soaps, sprays, shower gels and even massage gels can contain essential or aromatherapy.

The terms essential or aromatherapy oils are often used interchangeably. Essential oils are the  oils that are taken out of herbs, flowers or plants. Aromatherapy oils are the useable types of these  oils, that are often contained in lotions, candles, soaps and creams.

Aromatherapy oils might also be inhaled. When used in this manner, they can also be extremely beneficial in helping one’s mood or for relaxation purposes. It is vital that these oils are used in a cautious manner. An individual would be smart to talk to a professional who specializes in this area or a salesman or saleswoman because essential oils can be hurtful if inhaled in an unhealthy manner.

Essential or aromatherapy oils canplaced directly on the skin. Many times applying it this way is coupled with a massage. It is vital that essential oils are diluted before placedbeing placed on the skin or it can be damaged. Carrier oils are used to dilute essential oils. Common carrier oils include apricot kernel oil, grape seed and sweet almond oil.

Aromatherapy oils are commonly used  candles. Not only do these candles smell good but they also provide some health benefit. Aromatherapy candles are not as effective as direct inhalation or massage. However, still can work well. When purchasing such candles make sure that you not buying scented candles. The label should say “pure essential oils.”  Aromatherapy candles are great to burn during stressful periods.

The byproducts of essential oils are hydrosols. Hydrosols are the water product that is left over after essential oils are produced using water distillation or steam. Some individuals refer to it as floral water. Hydrosols are more gentle then essential oils and can be placed directly on the skin  with no problem. They don’t have to be diluted. They can also be added to lotions, creams and home made scents If you are interested in purchasing Hydrosols, a good place to begin is with vendors who sell essential oils.
