Questions about cowboy boots – toe shafts and ankle chains?
I have a nice pair of Ariat boots, but they’re solid black and I’d like to dress them up a bit. Any ideas? I don’t think people wear spurs for decoration, but what are those silver pieces on the toe and heels called? Where can I get them? Also, where can I get those silver ankle chains on the shaft of some boots? Thanks.
My suggestion would be to try some silver toe tips and heel plates. They can dress up a boot and give you the added benefit of protecting your boot. Ariat makes a nice boot…but I’m not sure if you can easily fit a set of tips and plates or not. If I were you, I’d check out www.caboots.com They provide them on line. I would call first to see if they’ll work with your boots or what suggestions they can provide. Then, you can always have a local shoe/boot repair shop put them on for you. As far as any boot chain goes…I’d save that for a harness boot. Harness boots already have the leather strap and ring around the bottom/ankle…so a chain makes sense. Otherwise, I’d pass on it. Enjoy your boots…you’ll get compliments!
